Information about our use of cookies

Capitalized terms here have the same meaning as in the Axcela Bio Privacy Policy. Our Privacy Policy tells you how we process the information we collect through cookies which are deployed through the Services.

This website sets no cookies of its own, and we use no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking cookies. Two kinds of third-party cookies can be set, and both are listed in full below. The first are short-lived security cookies set by the providers of the demo request form and the video player; they are strictly necessary and are set regardless of your choice. The second are analytics cookies set by HubSpot, our customer relationship management provider, which let us see which pages a visitor found useful before asking for a demo or getting in touch.

Whether we ask you first depends on where you are. If you visit from the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, a banner asks you to accept or decline the HubSpot cookies and none of them are set until you accept. Visitors elsewhere are informed here rather than asked, and can opt out at any time using the controls in Accepting or declining cookies below. Wherever you are, a browser that sends the Global Privacy Control signal is treated as having declined.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that is stored on your browser or the hard drive of your computer. Cookies may contain information that is transferred to your computer’s hard drive.

The two main categories of cookies are session cookies and persistent cookies. Session cookies are created temporarily in your browser’s subfolder when you visit a website. They only last for as long as the session and are deleted when you leave. Persistent cookies remain in your browser’s subfolder but are reactivated when you revisit the website that placed them, so you can be recognised on your return. A cookie set by a domain other than the one you are visiting is known as a third-party cookie.

The following is the complete list of cookies that can be set when you visit axcela.bio. None of them are set by Axcela Bio itself. The first table lists the strictly necessary cookies, which are set by the providers of the demo request form and the video player. The second lists the analytics and consent cookies set by HubSpot, which are subject to the choice described above. Apart from cookies, this website keeps one value in your browser’s local storage: whether you have dismissed the announcement bar at the top of the page, if one is showing. It contains no identifier and never leaves your browser.

Analytics and consent cookies

Set by HubSpot on the domain axcela.bio, so they apply to both axcela.bio and www.axcela.bio. In the European Union, the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom the analytics cookies are set only after you accept the banner. The consent cookies record your choice, so that we can respect it on your next visit without asking again. HubSpot documents all of its cookies in its cookie reference.

We review this list when we change the third-party services used on the website. If you believe you have received a cookie from us that is not listed here, please tell us at privacy@axcela.bio.

How we measure website traffic

We measure traffic in two ways. The first works without cookies. Our website analytics are provided by Plausible Analytics, which is hosted in the European Union and is designed to work without cookies and without collecting personal data. It sets no cookie, it stores nothing on your device, it does not assign you a persistent identifier and it does not follow you to other websites. It counts page views and aggregate measures such as which page referred you and which country the request came from. Because nothing is stored on or read from your device for this purpose, no consent is required for it. You can read Plausible’s data policy for the detail of what is and is not collected.

The second uses the HubSpot cookies listed above. HubSpot is the system in which we keep our customer and prospect relationships, and its analytics tell us which pages a visitor viewed before requesting a demo or contacting us, and which page or search brought them here. That is what lets us follow up on a request with some idea of what the person was looking for. The information is processed by HubSpot on our behalf under its data processing agreement and is stored in HubSpot’s United States data centre, with the transfer covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, to which HubSpot is certified. Where the law requires consent for these cookies we ask for it first, and everywhere you can opt out as described below.

Embedded content from other services

Two parts of this website are delivered by other companies, and each one is the reason for one of the cookies listed above:

• The demo request form. Our Book a demo page embeds a form hosted by HubSpot, our customer relationship management provider. The form is loaded when you open that page so that it is ready for you to use. The details you type into it are sent to HubSpot and processed by us to answer your request, as described in our Privacy Policy. The form works whether or not you have accepted the HubSpot analytics cookies. If you have, HubSpot links your request to the pages you viewed beforehand; if you have declined or opted out, your request is stored on its own, without that history.
• Videos. Our videos are hosted by Vimeo and embedded with Vimeo’s “do not track” setting enabled. Nothing is loaded from Vimeo until you click play, so simply visiting a page that contains a video contacts no one and sets no cookie.

Categories of cookies

Cookies are commonly grouped into the categories below. On this website we use cookies in the first and third categories.

• Necessary/essential cookies. Cookies that are required for the operation of the Services. They include, for example, cookies that protect a page against automated abuse, and cookies that enable you to log into secure areas and to navigate them.
• Functionality/preference cookies. Cookies used to recognize you when you return, so that content can be personalized and preferences such as your choice of language or region can be remembered. Not used on this website. The one preference we remember, whether you dismissed the announcement bar, is kept in your browser’s local storage rather than a cookie, and contains no identifier.
• Analytical cookies. Cookies that record how you and other users move around and interact with a service, for troubleshooting and reporting purposes. Used on this website, set by HubSpot - with your consent in the European Union, the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, and with an opt-out everywhere. • Advertising and targeting cookies. Cookies used to build a profile of your interests and to show you advertising on this or other websites. Not used on this website. We run no advertising pixels or tags.

Where you use a logged-in Axcela Bio product rather than this public website, cookies in the necessary/essential category are also used to keep you signed in and to keep your session secure. Wherever the law requires it, we ask for your consent before setting any cookie outside the necessary/essential category, and we update this policy whenever the cookies we use change.

Accepting or declining cookies

If you visit from the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, a banner at the bottom of the page asks you to accept or decline the HubSpot cookies the first time you visit. Your location is judged from your network address. No analytics cookie is set until you accept, and your answer is remembered in the consent cookies listed above so that you are not asked again. If you visit from elsewhere, no banner is shown and the analytics cookies are set when the page loads, unless your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, which we honour as a refusal.

You can change your mind at any time. Reopening the banner lets you change an earlier answer. Opting out removes the HubSpot analytics cookies from your browser and marks it so that HubSpot’s script collects nothing further, wherever you are. Both are one click:
